Wanted Kimberley 120Ah Series 3 battery

Allan, thank you for your suggestion. I had a look at Daly BMS and it looks promising. However, the cost is $400 for 12V 100A unit (including 3 year warranty) from solar4rvs. Found another site offering the same unit for $120 but with no warranty. I will contact solar4rvs for more information.

Zed, I think Rod is only interested in his own system (understandably). If you can get to the inside of the original batteries it would be a simple issue to fit a Daly BMS across the cell terminals which would replace the original inbuilt BMS assuming your cells are in good condition.

I put similar question to Rodney Dilkes from EV Power:
"I have 2 Kimberley 120 Ah Series 3 batteries (IFM12-1100E3) manufactured by O'Cell in China and connected in parallel in Kimberley Kruiser S2 (YOM2015). One battery has faulty internal BMS board but all cell in both batteries are OK with 3.4 V across each cell. Is it possible to use the cells from both batteries with your external BMS?"

His answer was:
"Sorry, I don’t think that would work well."

Initially, my batteries failed almost simultaneously due to mechanical failure of Chinese made ZOMKUN (ZK02-120, col: 9VDC) latching relays inside the battery box. These could not be sourced locally nor from China. I replaced them with locally sourced OMRON (G9TB-U1ATH-E, col:12VDC) latching relays. Everything worked fine until I accidentally shorted the BMS board in one of the batteries.
Failure of $5 relays disabled originally AU$2550 (each) batteries. It is hard to understand why the battery boxes were glued shut when they contained serviceable parts. I note that several brands of LiFePO4 batteries are now fully serviceable (–eg. Enerdrive ePower B-Tec G2, Safiery).

Anyhow, I am still trying to source a dead or alive Kimberley 120AH Series 3 battery which has a functional BMS.

The Kimberley batteries have an internal BMS as stated but given that a new 120 Amp-hr battery could cost $1000 + perhaps an alternative approach could be to simply remove the internal BMS and install an external unit. This would involve a bit of battery surgery but nothing too complicated. A suitable BMS (Daly 100A) should cost a bit over $100 but probably worth the effort.

I have also just had a similar failure and am also looking for a spare working battery.

I have two Kimberley 120 Ah Series 3 batteries (IFM12-1100E3) in our Kimberley Kruiser S2 (YOM-2015). One battery has faulty internal BMS board but all cells are OK. Please contact me if you have any unwanted batteries of this type that may still have functional BMS circuit board. I am aware that many Kimberley Karavan and Kruiser owners have replaced their batteries with EV Power or Enerdrive batteries thus resulting in some old Kimberley batteries that may be still fully functional or chemically dead but with BMS still OK. 0418174327
